Distribution of preferences

The distribution of preferences can only occur once a final quota has been struck – at least thirteen days after election day.

Senators elected

Senators can only be declared elected after the distribution of preferences.

Provisional quota

For a candidate to be elected to the Senate they need to gain a full quota of the formal votes. The table below is based on first preference votes only and represents a provisional quota for each party. Each party's provisional quota gives an indication as to the potential for their candidate/s to be elected.
